1. The CCNY STEM Institute Summer

The CCNY STEM Institute Summer is a no-cost STEAM program for you, including mathematics that blends hands-on learning, real-world projects, and mentorship from experienced instructors. Over the four-week summer session, you’ll engage in morning classes and afternoon research/project sessions designed to build practical skills across engineering, arts, and mathematics. The program highlights collaborative problem solving, creativity, and college/career readiness while providing free daily lunch and supportive programming.

2. Veritas AI

Location: Remote

Cost: Varies depending on program type. Full financial aid available. 

Acceptance rate/cohort size: Selective 

Dates: Multiple 12-15-week cohorts throughout the year, including spring, summer, fall, and winter.

Eligibility: High school students. AI Fellowship applicants should either have completed the AI Scholars program or exhibit experience with AI concepts or Python.

Veritas AI, founded and run by Harvard graduate students, offers programs for high school students who are passionate about artificial intelligence. Students who are looking to get started with AI, ML, and data science would benefit from the AI Scholars program. Through this 10-session boot camp, students are introduced to the fundamentals of AI & data science and get a chance to work on real-world projects. Another option for more advanced students is the AI Fellowship with Publication & Showcase. Through this program, students get a chance to work 1:1 with mentors from top universities on a unique, individual project. A bonus of this program is that students have access to the in-house publication team to help them secure publications in high school research journals. 3. Mathematical Modeling at Mercy University (M3U)

The Mathematical Modeling at Mercy University (M3U) program is a long-standing summer initiative that introduces high-achieving, economically disadvantaged high school students like you to advanced mathematical modeling. You’ll explore real-world problems drawn from the physical, natural, and environmental sciences and learn to translate them into mathematical frameworks.

The Lumiere Research Scholars Program’s Math Track allows you to engage in individualized, university-level mathematical research under the mentorship of PhD researchers from top global institutions. You’ll begin with guided skill-building modules covering topics such as proofs, discrete math, linear algebra, probability, optimization, and mathematical modeling. Through weekly one-on-one meetings, you’ll explore advanced concepts, analyze academic papers, and develop a research question tailored to your interests, ranging from pure mathematics to applied fields like data science, physics, economics, and computer science. 

5. MoMath High School Integrators Volunteer Program

The High School Integrators program recruits mathematically talented teens to volunteer as interactive museum guides and program assistants, gaining communication and job skills while helping visitors engage with exhibits. If you join in the summer, you’ll make a considerable time commitment and often gain significant experience that strengthens college applications and future STEM engagement.
