Structure and schedule
AI Scholars group classes, followed by the AI Fellowship 1-on-1 track — mentor sessions plus publication-expert sessions. Fully online via Zoom.
Who it's for
Grades 9–12 who want the complete arc and would like to build up AI fundamentals before diving into an individualized project. No prior experience required.

STAGE 1
Fundamentals
AI Scholars — Python, core AI and a group project, at a 5:1 student-to-mentor ratio
STAGE 2
Independent project
The AI Fellowship — scope, build and train your own model 1-on-1 with a mentor.
STAGE 3
Publication
Publication-expert sessions to submit to a journal or competition, or showcase publicly.

PhD researchers at the institutions defining modern AI — and practitioners at the labs and companies building it. You start in small group classes and move to 1-on-1.
College credit eligibility
Students who successfully complete a high school program are eligible for post-baccalaureate credit through University of California, San Diego Extended Studies.
